Kelly was Mariah Hulsey Crabtree's uncle. He is buried along side James Buchanan Crabtree b. 11-25-1832 d. 8-8-1904. James was Mariah's husband. Mariah b. 4-2-1855 d. 3-11-1931. She's buried in the Pontiac Cemetary in Gainsville, MO. History of Ark, Independence Co. pg 679-670 in Batesville, AR genealogy library.

The elder Hulsey was married in Arkansas,
about 1820, and was a successful agriculturist all his life. He served five years in the War of 1812, and participated in one of the principal battles. His father, Charles Hulsey, probably [p.680] moved to Arkansas about 1811 or 1812,
and was one of the earliest settlers of the northeast part of the State. Joseph Smalley, the maternal grandfather of the subject of this sketch, moved to Arkansas about 1812
