Edward's headstone notes that the year that he was born was 1854 .... however based on his death certificate signed by his wife " Anngelena " he was born on December 12, 1848 in Maryland the son of Henry and Hester Ella Collison Stubbs.

Since his headstone was not placed until after " Anngelena's " passing, and since she passed away 30 years after Edward, family members apparently " estimated " his birth year.

Edward married Anngelena Boyd on December 25, 1875 in Delaware ( see attached marriage record ). They were married by the Rev. John Ervine of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

After their marriage they first resided on the farm owned by Nathan and Margaret Clark in South Murderkill Hundred ( Felton - Harrington area ) Kent County, Delaware and Edward is shown as a laborer on that farm in the 1880 census.

They continued residing on that Delaware farm at least through March of 1885 as their fourth child Margaret Annie Stubbs is shown as being born in Delaware.

Sometime after Margaret's birth and before the birth of their fifth child, William Edward Stubbs in 1887 ( who sometimes was referred to as Edward, Jr.), they moved to the Henderson, Maryland area, on the road to Goldsboro, on a farm where Edward is noted as farming on his own.

Sometime after the 1910 census Edward and his wife Anngelena moved to Delaware. It's believed that they moved into a home at 71 Dorman Street, Harrington, Delaware as that is where Anngelena was residing in the 1940 census as a widow. Possibly it was to be closer to their son Jasper and his family.

Edward preceded his wife in passing away at the age of 67 due to complications involving Nephritis ( kidney and intestine problems ) on April 23, 1916 in Harrington, Delaware. He was interred in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Sandtown, Delaware.

After the 1940 census and prior to her passing Anngelena moved to her daughter Margaret Anna Stubbs Schuyler home in Denton, Maryland. She passed away there on December 20, 1946 at the age of 87 and was interred with her husband here at Mt. Olive. They had 7 known children.

Edward was the dad of Clara Z. Stubbs Eveland, Robert Henry Stubbs, Jasper Stubbs, Margaret Annie Stubbs Schuyler, William Edward Stubbs, Elezene Stubbs and Clayton Andrew Stubbs.

Edward was more than likely the brother of James Wesley Stubbs who is also interred here at Mount. Olive Cemetery. More than one older Stubbs family member noted to me (Russ Pickett) that Edward indeed had a brother named James.

James was also married to Rebecca Dill  just " 7 " days after Edward was married and James was also married by the Rev. John Ervine of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
