SERVICES FOR L.N. HEAVIN HELD
Funeral services for Mr. Louis N. Heavin were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, at the First Baptist Church of Verden. Rev. Garland Anderson of Comanche, Okla., formerly a pastor here, officiated. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Music for the service was rendered by Mrs. Hazel Ferris, Dewayne Ferris and Mrs. W.A. Finley. Mrs. Ed Nelson accompanied them. Songs were "Precious Memories", "Rock of Ages", and "Where We Will Never Grow Old". Casket bearers were nephews: Vernon Crumm, Ed Clift, Bob Lamar, Oren Heavin, Wayne Heavin and Eckel E. Hinkle.
Louis Nelson Heavin was born in Edgar Springs, Phelps county, Missouri, June 2, 1870 and passed away in the Anadarko Hospital on February 13, 1958 at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 15 days. He was united in marriage to Martha Isabell Harris in 1897 at Rolla, Phelps county, Missouri. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He and his family moved to Oklahoma in 1920 near Verden. He retired from the farm and moved into Verden in about 1940.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1911 and one son in infancy. Surviving him are his children: Audra Virgil Heavin and Raymond Elva Heavin of Verden; Ivan Lester Heavin of Cement; and Mrs. Ora (Elba Leora) Dunham of Anutt, Mo.; 13 granchildren; and 26 great grandchildren; two brothers, John W. Heavin of Columbus, Kansas, and Gordon M. Heavin of Verden; and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Spoon of Edgar Springs, Mo. and Mrs. Exie Crumm.
