RICHARD L. NIETERT, 79, died Friday at Parkview Hospital. Born in Allen County, he retired in 1986 as a district claims manager for Meridian Mutual Insurance Co. after 31 years. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth M.; a son, Richard D. of New Haven; two daughters, Sheila Donahoo and Connie Gaff, both of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., with calling an hour before services. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930 E., New Haven, with an American Legion Post visitation at 7:30 p.m. Burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post 330.
