Rosa (Rose) SMITH was the daughter of Jewish parents Rebecca (BITTAN) and Benjamin REES. Her first husband was Charles HALL who she married on 3rd August 1875 in Clerkenwell, London. They had four children. When Charles Hall died she married James Berwood SMITH on 14th February 1918 in Mile End, London.
James SMITH was a property builder and a member of the London Sporting Club and at one time acted as backer to Step Son-in-Law Boxer Pedlar PALMER.
Rebecca and James had a daughter Eliza who died age 19 months old in 1898.
