Killed by Lighting
On last Monday Marshall Perryman, a young man about twenty years old, and Earl the thirteen year old son of Judge Hightower, were killed by lightning on the Hightower farm.
Perryman had just arrived on the farm to begin work and with the little boy was at the well a short distance from the house grinding a hoe. The lighting struck a sycamore tree near where they were standing, and running down the tree struck Perryman in the head, tearing the crown out of his hat and burning his hair. Earl Hightower it is supposed was killed by the shock. After the clap of thunder following the flash Mr. Hightower run to the well and found them both dead. Young Perryman was buried Tuesday near his father's home in Wright county and Earl Hightower was buried on the same day at Prospect cemetery.
