Nancy McFarland was born May 5th, 1755 in Worcester, MA, the 2nd child of Daniel and Sarah Barber McFarland. She was the granddaughter of Andrew McFarland who had emigrated from County Tyrone, Ireland in 1718 to Massachusetts. Her father Daniel held various town offices in Worcester from the years 1756 to 1767 after which time he moved with his family to New Jersey, residing in Burlington where his two youngest children were born. He obtained a commission as colonel in the Continental army and served through the Revolution. Daniel commanded a company of militia rangers in Monongahela and Ohio Counties in southwestern Pennsylvania during the Revolution. At the close of the war Daniel settled in Washington County Pennsylvania. Daughter Nancy married Zenas Lindley about 1778 and they lived in Washington Co, PA for several years before coming to Ohio Territory about 1808. They settled in Spring Creek Twp, Miami Co, OH where they lived until their deaths, Nancy in 1834 and Zenas in 1838.

Note: I have been asked by several to provide evidence that this Nancy McFarland was the same Nancy who married Zenas Lindley since there has been no record found of the marriage. I got the information from an appendix to a book written about the Lindley family stating that it was a high probability this Nancy McFarland was the Nancy who married Zenas due to their families living in the same area, and due to other family ties. Nancy's brother Abel McFarland married Sarah Lindley (sister of Zenas). Sometimes all you have is circumstantial evidence where there are no records to prove or disprove theories.
Update: Recent DNA evidence now proves this theory to be highly likely since I do share DNA with descendants of at least 3 of Nancy McFarland's siblings (William, Daniel, and Abel McFarland) which has me convinced that Zenas's wife was indeed Nancy McFarland as stated.
