John George Kuns and Elizabeth Cripe Kuns had six sons and four daughters. They moved from Huntingdon County, PA to Montgomery County, Ohio around 1802 with other German Baptist/Brethern families. They farmed in Ohio for a number of years but some of the Kuns family members decided they could get more and better land Indiana. Around 1827 a group of the families moved further west to Carroll County, Indiana where they farmed for several years. The younger folks thought that they would be more successful farming and working with livestock in Illinois, so they found property available in Illinois, primarily in Piatt County, IL near Cerro Gordo. Some of the Kuns family purchased land in Nebraska and settled there.
