Rachel Ellen MIRACLE and Carroll War Anderson married in 1876 in Madison County, Arkansas. They separated about 1910 due to a dispute between Carroll and his sons - Rachel took the side of the sons. The Minutes of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church give details of the separation and tells that a group from the Church was assigned to go talk to Rachel to try and convince her to come home to Carroll. Carroll was the Moderator of the Church, and Rachel requested that she be allowed to speak in the Church to tell her side of the reason for the separation. Because Carroll was the Moderator he was in control of who spoke in the Church, and he denied Rachel that opportunity to speak. Carroll and Rachel remained separated until her death in January 1915. Carroll re-married in 1918.
