Laura VanHuser , 87, died on Sunday at the Oneida Extended Care Facility. She was born in East Syracuse and had resided in Central New York for her whole life. She had worked as a personal companion and housekeeper for many years. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Smith VanHuser ; and a niece, Esther B. Casey.
She is survived by her grandniece, Karen Casey- Wightman of Vero Beach, FL; great-grandniece, Abigael Wightman of Vero Beach, FL; and two nephews, Raymond and Robert Larson of Syracuse .
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. Friends may greet the family from 5 to 6 p.m. before the service at the funeral home, 3111 James St. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.

Farewell my dear, I know that right now you are in such a sweet place with our heavenly father. His house is so full of rooms, more than enough to accomadate all those long gone Brothers Charles,Frank, John , ,Norman and Henry. Sisters Marie, Mary, Elma, Bertha. Mother, Florence and Dad John. Grandparents Rival and Flora Smith and Charles and Joan VanHuser.
Aunts Ellen Smith and Uncles Philip George and Emerson Smith and Charles and Alvan VanHuser.All the nieces and nephews like Eshter, Genevieve, Charlie, Billy, Mike. Friends Like WJB Macmillian and Ed Doody. That beautiful horse that Ma so loved and all those dogs cats and Bertha's chickens. I can only imagine how happy you are to have the biggest Sunday picnic of all time. With no wars, poverty , sickness or anger. To the End of our family line May you all bask in the glory of our FATHER's love untill we meet again.
