Katrina LeAnn Ball Watkins, 47, of Mineral Wells, slipped peacefully from this earthly life to sing with the angels in the early morning hours on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, surrounded by her family. She won her victory after a valiant and courageous 13-year battle with breast cancer, never wavering in her faith and fighting the battle with boundless grace and dignity. She truly was an inspi- ration to so very many with her servant's heart and love of her Lord. Her beautiful voice lifted in songs of praise was one of her many gifts.
Katrina was born Oct. 12, 1961, in Mineral Wells. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1980. After attending Abilene Christian University, she returned home and worked for several years at the former First National Bank of Mineral Wells.
She married Donnie Ray Watkins, on Aug. 16, 1986. In 1990, she joined the family business, Wes-Tex Vending, taking the company into the computer age. She loved to crochet, but won numerous awards for her first love, cross-stitch.
She gave freely of her time and talents to her family and her church family, through Suppin' with the Saints, Iron Springs church camp, and in recent years, Southside's "Opportunity Camp".
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanine Ball; and her grandparents.
Surviving are her husband, Donnie; son, Colton Don Watkins; parents, Richard and Connie Ball; sisters, Tonja Trammell and husband, Jimmy, Susan Hildreth and husband, David, and Terri Murphy; brothers, Tim Hopkins and wife, Amy, and Jim Johnson and wife, Tabitha; father- in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Carol Watkins; sister-in-law, Susan Champion and husband, Frank; several nieces and nephews; adopted daughters, Chasity Kemper and husband, Nick, and Arianne Berger and husband, Jake; and three adopted grandchildren.
