Organist and composer. He was organist at Ely Cathetral, Holborn and the Asylum for Female Orphans where he was assistant to John Calcott. He composed symphonies and produced glee's in five volumes (1801-1807) which include, "By Celia's Abour" and "O Nightingale" among others. He co-founded the Philharmonic Society of London in 1813 His so was John Calcott Horsley. He was a personal friend of Mendelssohn. His daughter Mary married Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
