This memorial commemorates the five men from Beckenham AFS (Auxiliary Fire Service) who were killed by enemy action whilst on duty at Plaistow Road, West Ham.Their burial places are unknown.Inquests held at West Ham County Borough.

FREDERICK WALTER MOORE,
Age: 35
- of 22 Lawrence Avenue, Carshalton, Surrey. Son of Kenelm Frederick and Alice Moore, of 34 Carshalton Park Road, Carshalton.

LESLIE JOHN PALMER
Age: 31
Son of George W. and Eva Palmer, of 36 Dorset Road, Ashford, Middlesex; husband of Doris Maude Palmer, of 16 Lawrence Road, West Wickham, Kent.

STANLEY SHORT (Leading Fireman)
Age: 36
Husband of Florence Lilian Short, of 94 Addington Road, West Wickham, Kent.

Note: to the left of the memorial can be found the joint grave of two local firemen (Ernest Beadle and Norman Mountjoy) who were killed on duty in April 1941
