Lloyd J. Turner, 71, R.R. 1, Garden Prairie, died Friday at 4:20 p.m. at Highland Hospital after a short illness. He had lived in the Garden Prairie - Belvidere area all his life. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Turner was born on the home farm near Garden Prairie Sept. 25, 1899, son of James and Mary Brown Turner. He married Ruby Greenlee on June 6, 1929 in Argyle.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Boone County Farm Bureau, and Boone County Service Co. He served on the Boone-McHenry Counties Federal Land Bank Board for 18 years and was also active on 4-H Council.
Survivors include the wife; one son, James L. of Garden Prairie; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Smiley, Garden Prairie, and Mrs. Fred Craig and Mrs. George Gibson, Belvidere; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded Mr. Turner in death,
Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. Duane E. Heap of First United Presbyterian Church at 1 :30 p.m. Monday in Buck-Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Scottish Cemetery at Argyle.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial has been established for the building fund of First Presbyterian Church.
