Ebenezer B. Mullen, Jr. was born to Ebenezer B. Mullen, Sr. and Mary Ellen Brundige on February 29, 1836 between Ottawa, Upper Canada (currently Ontario), and Montreal, Lower Canada (currently Quebec) near the Ottawa River. His brothers are Nathaniel, Isaac, Levi and Daniel. His father died in 1838 in a timber accident. His mother married William R. Thompson in Upper Canada. The family moved to Lee County, Illinois in 1853 and farmed in Reynolds Township.

Ebenezer married Lucinda Stearns on January 1, 1861 in Ogle County, Illinois. Born to them are Clark Albert, twins Emma Orel and Emery (Bud) Oren, and Bert Wesley. The family moved to Montgomery County, Iowa in 1873 and purchased a farm in Pilot Grove Township. Lucinda died on March 7, 1881. Ebenezer married Maria Josephine Garside on December 6, 1883. Born to them are Dorothy Elnor (Latimer) and Russell Garside. Ebenezer died from "chronic nephritis" (inflammation of the kidneys).

Large headstone condition in September 2003 is excellent. Small headstone condition is good. Lichen is beginning to form between the raised lettering.
