Marie A. Conrad, 86 years, a 64 year resident of Wenatchee, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2006. She was born on June 11, 1919, to Charles and Ida (Miller) Gethman in Belfield, North Dakota.
She later moved to Dickinson, North Dakota where she received her education. She married Richard Dale Conrad on June 25, 1945, in Wenatchee. The couple made Wenatchee their home and were married for 50 years. They loved to travel in their van throughout the U.S. She worked in the Greenhouse at Milot Mills for 25 years and also at Van Wells planting stock for 4 years part time. Marie was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church, Wenatchee Senior Center, AARP and the Retired Public Employees. Marie donated over 4000 afghans to area clubs, the Senior Center, nursing homes, kids day care centers and to people in need. She finished her last one the day she passed. Survivors include her daughter, Jennene and Luke Hopkins of Wenatchee, WA; son, Roger and Jackie Conrad of Port Orchard, WA; daughter, Cindy Conrad of Renton, WA. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Cornerstone Christian Church, Wenatchee. Visitation will be on Monday, January 9, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones and Jones Funeral Home.
