S-Sgt. Keith W. Craig was born March 11, 1924 to Milton A. and Mable E Mercer Craig, south of Brady Nebraska, and lost his life in Italy on October 17th, 1944.

He recieved his grade education at District 112, and was a graduate of Brady high school with the class of 1942. He was united in marriage at Oberlin, Kansas, to Miss Leatrice Jacobs of Maxwell on May 29, 1943.

He entered the Armed Forces on July 7 that year and recieved his training at Camp Lee, VA, and Greensboro, NC and graduated from the School of Amament at Lowery Field, Denver, In May of 1944. He recieved three weeks turrent gunnery training at Ardmore, OK, and left for overseas duty late in July.

Information from his commanding officer of the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy states his B-24 Liberator bomber on which he was a member of the crew, was returning from a mission over Vienna, Austria, and was his ship being damaged by anti-aircraft fire, made a crash landing at a air base in Italy. He was laid to rest with his comrades at an American cemetery there.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, parents and six brothers, Zane, Lyle, Dwight, Lennis, Deloit and Bruce; three sisters Karen, Kay and Coral Jean; his grandparents Mr and Mrs R.L. Craig and Mrs Agnes Mercer of Brady, besides a host of relatives and friends.
