Mrs. Emily Drabek Fischner of Shiner died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 1987 in the Yoakum Catholic Hospital at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 22 days.
One of six children, she born June 7, 1910, near Shiner, daughter of Louis and Frances Mikesh Drabek, natives of Frielsburg and Shiner, Texas, respectively.
She was a member of Sts. Cyrl and Methodius Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society, KJZT Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a faithful worker in the Shiner Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the Shiner American Legion Auxiliary.
On November 6, 1938 she married to Eugene Joseph Fischner, son of Arthur and Frieda Pohler Fischnar, natives of Industry, Austin County and Komesky, Lavaca County and Shiner. The Rev. Lux performed the ceremony in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Houston. They made their home in Houston until 1977 when Mr. Fischner retired from his employment with Weingarten and the couple returned to Shiner to make their home. Mr. Fischner died October 8, 1978 after a sudden illness. She continued to make her home in Shiner.
The body lay in state at the Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, where the parish rosary was recited Wednesday December 30 at 7:00 p.m. led by Father Fidgeon. It will at the church at 1:35 p.m. Thursday by the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and KJZT, led by Agnes Sedlmeyer, Irene Wendel and Lillie Raaz.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 31, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at Sts Cyrl and Methodius Catholic Church Shiner, with the Rev. Patrick Fidgeor officiating. The organist. Mrs. Elvera Jaks softly played a number of hymns.
Burial followed in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers were Larry Drabek and Larry Louder, both of Alvin, Rudy Drabek and Scott Drabek, both of Houston, Arthur Fischnar of Porter and Felix Swoboda of Shiner.
Surviving are two brothers, Laddie A. Drabek of Shiner and Eddie Drabek of Livigston.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, January 20, 1938; her mother, October 15, 1957; three brothers, Emil Drabek, May 16, 1937; Louis William Drabek, September 22, 1972; and Feliz E. Drabek, September 3, 1982.
