Burnell J. Fischner, age 73 years, 4 months and 7 days of Houston, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 1995.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Kubena Funeral Home, Hattlettsville.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville with the Rev. Charles Sonnier officiating.
Burial was in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kubema Funeral Home, Hallettsville. Being a World War II veteran, Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion VFW. Color bearers were Ewald Erdelt, Daniel Veot, Ben Haas, Leonard Novak and Milton Chumchal. Squad leader was Odis Hermes. Chaplin Robert Butschek read the ritual rites after which the flag was folded by Ewald Erdelt. Chaplin Butschek presented the flag to Mrs. Fischner.
Pallbearers were Bobby Bozka, Larry Bozka, Matt Bozka Jr., Mike Bozka, Christopher Fischner and John A Hardage. Honorary pallbearer was John Nathan Fischner.
He married the former Mary Katherine Bozka, Jan 3, 1948 in Hattlettsville, and was a retired meat cutter.
He is survived by his wife; sons, John Fischner of Needville and David Eugene Fischner and Mark Fischner, both of Houston; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, July 3, 1941; his mother, Feb. 22, 1964; one sister Faye Fischner, July 25, 1944; Two brothers, Eugene Fischner Oct. 6, 1978. And Arthur Fischnar April 7, 1995.
