David Evans was the son of John Evans and Amiah Frehorne Davis. David Evans became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints during the period of poligamy. He MAY have been married three times, possibly during the same period. His first wife was definitely Phebe Reese and they married on 16 July 1825 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales. They had at least seven children:

John Reese Evans b 22 Apr 1834
David Evans b 1837
Mathuselem Rolland Evans b 15 Jan 1844

The couple also adopted one child, David Robert Evans b 1840. All the children were born in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

This David Evans may have married Mary Howell according to some researchers. If this is the correct information, they had at least the following children:
