Private John C. Brinkley, aged 22, son of Mrs. Bettie Brinkley, Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, was born at Bengen, Howard County, Arkansas.
On August 6th, 1918 he was inducted into the service at Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, and set to Camp Shelby, where he was placed with 137 F.A. Btry, B, American A.E. F. and later sent to France.
Prior to entering army he farmed his mother's land near Cerro Gordo, Arkansas.

According to several trees his father was Levi Woodson Brinkley, Jr and his mother was Betty Bell Thompson Brinkley.
