Funeral services were held at 1:30 p. m. Monday, March 16, 1987, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with Rev. Albert R. Cocke, Jr., officiating. Burial was in the Keota Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Wilson Memorial Library in Keota.
Organist was Mrs. L. J. Powell. Casket bearers were Waye Olson, Wilfred Cady, William Mayer, Keith Wells, Cyril Osweiler and Dennis Redlinger.
Hiy, as he was known here, was born June 15, 1897, at Harper, the son of Joseph and Dora Belle Bower Ludwig. He was adopted and raised by an aunt, Amelia 'Mame' Bower, of Harper, attended Harper school, and married Dorothy Lucelia Sellman on August 22, 1929, at Sigrouney, Iowa. He had lived in Keota since 1927 and worked doing wallpaper hanging, painting, was employed by Chambers Furniture Store, Marsh Funeral Home and Leinen's Market. Then he became the Keota Cemetery sexton and retired from this job at the age of 75.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Chancey Sellman, and a niece, Mrs. Roger (Norma) Richardson, both of Keota; and six nephews: Robert Sellman of Hillsboro, Oregon; Clifford Ludwig of Webster City; Richard Ludwig of Selma; and Latta, Norman and Terry Ludwig of Long Beach, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, in 1981; one sister; and seven brothers.
