Known affectionately to his friends as the Dirt Man, Bobby was a soil technician with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service until his retirement in 2007. Among his proudest accomplishments were his work on the Hayman Fire restoration and mentoring conservation students.

An avid outdoorsman, Bobby enjoyed camping and bass fishing. He was an accomplished wooden toymaker and took great pleasure in giving his creations away.
