FREDERICKSBURG - Elias Henry Priess, 90, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg by Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mr. Priess was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Luckenbach to Charles Priess and Meta Peese Priess. He married Ruby Barsch on May 17, 1944, in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Priess was a farmer and rancher in Oldham County near Vega. Throughout his life, he regularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and playing "42" dominoes and shuffleboard with many friends.

He was a confirmed member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Tolbert; his twin sister, Elisa Eckhardt; and a brother, Elmon Priess.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Hedrick and husband John of Boerne; a son-in-law, Dennis Tolbert of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Susan Thate and husband Trent of Amarillo and Jacob and Zachary Hedrick of Boerne; a great-grandchild, Lindsay Thate of Amarillo; and a sister, Ruby Arlitt of Fredericksburg.

The family suggests memorials be to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, P.O. Box 835, Fredericksburg, TX 78624; Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 110 E. San Antonio St., Fredericksburg TX 78624; National Rifle Association, P.O. Box 420648, Palm Coast, FL 32142-0648; or a charity of choice.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
