Neko Hamlett, 45, of Lubbock passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday Sept.3, 2008, at Melonie Park Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m today at the funeral home. Internment will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Neko was born Jan. 25, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Harvey Hamlett and Judie Gail (Sanders) Hamlett. Neko married Mary Hood on April 17, 1982, in Clovis, N.M. Neko enjoyed anything outdoors, whether it is grilling, wood working, mountain biking, hiking, and photography. He would do anything to help people, especially if they needed something fixed or built. He was actively involved in Melonie Park Church and had a committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ with a deep desire to see others share that faith.

Neko is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Amber Park and husband Michael, Laura Hamlett and Kelby Hamlett; grandson, Zeke; brother, Michael Hamlett of Grady, N.M.; parents, Harvey and Judie Hamlett, also of Grady, N.M.; and grandmother, Etta Hamlett of Clovis, N.M.

The family suggests memorials to Parkridge (an organization that helps young mothers and babies) 5203 79th ST. Suite B Lubbock, TX 79424.
