Doris, age 78, died peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday. She was born to Charles & Pearl Warner (Billiel). On Feb. 20, 1950, Doris married Elmer Christian at St. Johns Parsonage in Richland Center whom she met on a blind date. He preceded her death on Oct. 11, 2005. Her family was her life. She loved all her kids deeply and had the patience of a saint. She was very loving and accepting to all she knew. She enjoyed baking, playing Scrabble, cards and games with her family. She worked hard on the farm. Also, she worked at the Badger Ammunition Plant and Del Monte Canning Factory. Survived by her children, Patty (Bill) Thompson of Waterloo, WI, Laura Christian (Davis) of Madison, WI, Duane Christian of Waterloo, WI, Dennis Christian of DeForest, WI, Dan (Machele) Christian of Cazenovia, WI, Betty (Paul) Link of Waukon, IA, and Julie (Chris) Hooker of Ridgeway, WI; her beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Benjamin, Bonnie, Angela, Patricia, Michael, Christopher, Melanie, Brittany, Brady and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Liam, Kaecy, Andrea, Danica, Candace, Anthony, Jacob, Ava and Gwenyth who is expected to be born July 30, 2010; brothers, Charlie, Ronald, Donald (Loretta) and Clyde (Sue); and sister, Margaret Westphal. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl; sister-in-law, Kay; brother-in-law, Otto; and great-grandson, Tyler. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 5, at the funeral home in DeForest with Chaplain Deborah Holbrook officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of HospiceCare Inc. for making Doris's last wishes possible.
