Bert Carr, 95, Ex-Matagorda Sheriff Dies

Bay City—Bert Carr, 95, a resident here since 1901 and former county sheriff and tax collector, died Saturday in Matagorda General Hospital.
Carr, a native of Arkansas, was chief deputy sheriff from 1910 until 1914, sheriff from 1914 until 1920, and tax assessor and collector from 1922 until 1928.
He was in the real estate business until his retirement several years ago.
He leaves a son, C. E. Carr; a daughter, Mrs. Ida Faye Insall; a sister, Miss Fay Carr; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, all of Bay City.
Services will be at the First Methodist Church here at 3 p. m. Monday. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.
