Marjorie and Allen worked hard side-by-side on their dairy farm in Lien Township from 1953 through 1980. Education was very important to Marjorie and she encouraged her children in this area. She worked with school organizations while her children were involved, such as 4-H and PTA. Civic involvement included Study Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. Marjorie took pleasure in working with people and visiting them in their homes. She sold Stanley Home Products, Avon Products and collected data for the U.S. Census Bureau. She enjoyed her involvement with Homemakers. For many years she was active in ministry at the Grace Evangelical Free Church by teaching Sunday school, vacation Bible school, and was a co-founder of Girl's Christian Charm Club and worked with the Woman's Missionary Society and release time. She also participated in the Christian Women's Clubs in Morris and Alexandria. Most important to Marjorie was her faith, her love for the Lord and her family.

Hartman of Barrett; sons, Dave (DiAnne) Hartman of Barrett and Allen (Joy) Hartman, Jr., of Louisa, Va.; daughters, Marcy (Mark) Stave of Gentry, Ark., and Wendy (Paul) Klebs of St. Joseph; grandchildren: Dawn Hartman, Alexandria, Dale (Kari) Hartman, Buffalo, Kerry and Cheyenne Hartman of Louisa, Va., Donald, Daniel, David and Miranda Stave of Gentry, Ark., and Elizabeth and Ariana Klebs of St. Joseph; and great-grandchildren: Jackson and Dylan Wichtendahl, Jordan, Brady, Alana and Lindsay Hartman. Other survivors include her sisters, Janet Hardeman of Manilla, Philippines, and Drexel Lasley, Huntsville, Ala.; and half-brother, Roger Rice, Slayton.
