AMERICUS — Mrs. Vivian Butler Cannon, age 88, passed away at her residence Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today, April 28, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Harris officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the family residence 310 Ridgeway Drive, Americus, Ga.

Mrs. Cannon was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Barnesville, Ga. The daughter of the late Luther Butler and Sara Wise Butler, she was a home maker and a beautician, member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church, and a lifelong member of the Glendale Garden Club.

Mrs. Cannon is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bebe Herrington and Mack of Andersonville, Ga.; son, Roy (Jimmy) Cannon of Americus; a sister, Doris McCullohs of Pine Mountain Valley, Ga.; two grandchildren, B.J. McLemore of Andersonville, Ga., and Cindy Barrows of Blakely, Ga.; three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy James Cannon, and sisters, Julia Hurst and Marietta Wright.
