PHILIP LEE RANDOLPH, age 79, beloved husband and father, entered eternal rest June 2. He was born Feb 25, 1931, to Guy and Alice Randolph in Caspar, Wyoming. Philip was a very gracious and kind man, always willing to listen, always upbeat and ready for the next project, social gathering or travel adventure. His daily presence brightened the life of everyone he touched. He was always anxious to lend a hand and better the lives of friends and strangers alike.

Philip obtained his Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Washington in 1958. In 1963 he participated in the design of the eternal flame commemorating President Kennedy. After several years researching nuclear energy at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories he joined the El Paso Natural Gas Company to develop using underground explosives to increase natural gas production. This led him to the Houston area in the early 90s where he studied secondary natural gas recovery in conjunction with the Illinois Institute of Gas Technology. He retired in 2000 to spend more time with his wife Martha, their extended family, and the Gulf community. He served with the Galveston County environmental group to restore reefs and promote sea life; as president of the Omega Bay HOA; member of the United Methodist Church of Dickinson, serving as president of the adult Sunday school class, head trustee, conference delegate, and communion steward; honorary member of the Dickinson Weed and Wish Garden Club; instrumental in the development of the 2008 SFHS bond committee and planning of the new science facility at Sante Fe High School. He loved gardening and working around the house. He will be sorely missed.

Preceded in death by stepdaughter Susan (Suzi) Smith.

Philip is survived by his wife Martha, son Marcus (Merrilee), son Andrew (Lisa), stepson Shane Smith (Diana), grandchildren Kira, Erika (Douwe), John (Heather), Brad, Jessica Smith and Steven Smith, great grandchildren Cameron and Heidi; and his brother Dr. Bill Randolph (Mary).

Pallbearers Jesse Dunne, Lee Kirgan, Cindy Hardage, Steven Smith, Jim Livergood, Paul Lyle. Honorary pallbearers are the DOM coffee group.
