Mrs. Mae H. Scott
Wellsville-Mrs. Mae H. Scott, 101, Wellsville, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at an Ottawa retirement home where she lived the past seven years.
Mrs. Scott taught in rural Franklin County schools 15 years.
She was born Jan. 16, 1883, at Franklin, Ind., the daughter of Rev. George Riley Hume and Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Smith Hume. She moved to Kansas in 1896.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Tauy Baptist Church north of Ottawa.
She was married to William E. Scott May 10, 1919, at Ottawa. He died in February 1979. She also was preceded in death by a son, George Scott and a daughter, Helen Scott in 1971.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Scott, Ottawa, and W.K. Scott, Osceola, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Davis, Williamsburg and Mrs. Clarice Clark, Wellington; a brother, Sam Hume, Paola; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Ottawa. Mrs. Scott will lie in state at the mortuary until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
