Military Rites Held Monday for Carl T. Olson

Carl T. Olson, life-long resident of this community, passed away Friday evening, November 16th [1956.]. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 19th at 2 p.m. at Goose River Lutheran Church with Rev. Carl J. Field officiating. Burial was made in the Goose River cemetery with military rites being in charge of the Carroll O. Flesche Post of the American Legion of Hatton. Pallbearers were Rolf Thompson, Ernest Erickson, George Erickson, Oliver Boe, Alfred Berg and E.O. Erickson. Mrs. John M. Mark was soloist and Mrs. Peder Bjerke, organist. Carl Olson was born in Newburgh township, Steele County, Aug. 21, 1890, son of Arne and Karen Olson. With the exception of the time he served during the First World War, he had made his home in this community and worked on a number of farms in this area. He had never married.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mellum of East Grand Forks, Mrs. Henry Engel of Grand Forks and Mrs. John Boe of Hatton, now residing in Long Beach, Calif. for the winter months, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother who died during World War I, another brother who died in 1954 and a sister who passed away some years ago. Olson, Hegg & Pederson Funeral Home were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
