Passing of Old Resident
W. T. (RIP) Robinson, Succumbs Suddenly in Smiley

W. T. (RIP) Robinson, aged 71 years, died at his home in Smiley Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. He was in apparent good health up to a few moments before his death.
The decedent was a native of Alabama and had been a resident of Gonzales county for about fifty years. About two years after his arrival here he married Miss Elizabeth, a daughter of the late Dock Burnett, and twelve children were born to them, ten of whom are still living, viz: Walter, William and Nixon, of Smiley, Mrs. W. A. Sanders, Beaumont, Cal., Mrs. H. C. Lord, McCoy, Texas; J. W. W. and Milton Robinson, Lubbock, Texas; Mrs. J. W. Pouncey, Smiley; and Mrs. R. A. Denman, Houston, and Ed Robinson, Gonzales. In addition, two sisters survive him, Mrs. J. M. Rentz of Smiley and Miss Rebecca Robinson, of Alabama.
The remains will be buried in Pilgrim cemetery Thursday morning at 10 o'clock.
Mr. Robinson was one of the best known residents of the county, and was a congenial, whole-souled man, who was very popular with all who knew him. He had been engaged in livestock and farming in Gonzales county and was keenly intrested in hunting in his younger days.
For thirty-five years he had been affiliated with Gonzales Lodge, Knights of Pythias, being one of the charter members of the local and a number of years ago was awarded a medal in recognition of his long time connection with the order.
Members of the local lodge will conduct the funeral Thursday morning.
