Following many years of blindness, Elizabeth
'Betty' Jane Hayes opened her eyes in her Savior's presence on Friday, May 28, 2010. She passed away in her Colorado Springs home, her children at her side.

Betty was born January 29, 1926 in Peru, Indiana to Vera R. (Patton) Bishop and Clarence R. Bishop, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hayes and son-in-law, Craig Wellensiek. She is survived by her son, Ronald Martwick and daughter, Bonnie Wellensiek.

Betty was a writer, amateur architect and, in her youth, an amateur pilot. She enjoyed quilting and gave many of her creations to those in need. She devoted herself to her family, caring for her parents and raising her children with love, wisdom and a sense of humor. Betty loved Jesus and reading His word. She was a member of Calvary Worship Center.

Visitation is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3rd at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4th at Swan Law, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Donations in Betty's honor may be made to Calvary Worship Center (www.cwccs.org), Operation Christmas Child (www.samaritanspurse.org), or Pikes Peak Hospice.(www.pikespeakhospice.org).
