Glenney Rites to Be from Union Church
Union -(Special)- Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Community Church here for Mrs. Lee Glenney, 80, who died at her home Saturday after an illness of several weeks.
The Rev. Lloyd McDonald will be in charge and burial will be in Miller Cemetery, west of Union.
Mrs. Glenney was born Retta Prudence Rash, Aug. 1, 1880, southwest of Union, and she was the daughter of Levi and Esther Rash. She was married to Leland James Glenney, October 24, 1898, and to this union 10 children were born. A daughter preceded her in death in 1902.
Surviving besides the widower are her children, Earl V., Mrs. Fred [Neta] Anderson and Mrs. Klee [Iva] Benbow, all of Union; Mrs. Leo [Burma] Pock and Kenneth Glenney, of Chicago; Mrs. Milton [Dorothy] Benbow, Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Steve [Edna] Tjarks, Marshalltown; Mrs. Myrl [Wilma] Cockerham, Zearing, and Mrs. Denzil [Murine] Shaver, Tama.
Two brothers, Clayton of Gifford and Clifford of Union, also survive as do 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was an active member of the Bangor Friends Church.
1898-10-26 Eldora Herald:
Lee Glenney and Miss Retta Rash were married at Eldora by Justice C. Burling, Monday afternoon. Both parties are from Providence township.
