Pendleton Graves Ayres was a son of Thomas W. Ayres (1823-1908) and his wife Martha J. Williamson (1824-1910). He married Alice McMillan (1862-1931) of the Mullins community. In 1900, they'd had seven children, five living. The children were: Dr. Thomas L. Ayres (1884-1921), Edna Elizabeth Ayres (1886-1969), Martha R. Ayres (Jan. 1893-?), infant (born & died 31 Oct. 1894), infant (born & died 8 Jan. 1896), Charles Jones Ayres (1896-1987, m. Addie Scott) and Neil M. Ayres (May 1899-?).
