Lurla Englis Meinhardt, 84, of Memphis, Missouri died April 12, 2010 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Kirksville.

She was born October 2, 1925 at Arbela, Missouri to Alva Clark and Lucille Pearl Stone Riebel. She graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1943 and then attended Gem City Business College. She was a teacher at Center Point Elementary School.

She married George S. Meinhardt on May 15, 1946 at Keokuk, Iowa and to this union four children were born.

Lurla was a homemaker and assisted her husband in their farming operation. She was a 4-H leader and very actively involved with her children during their time in those activities. She was an excellent cook and took pride in preparing her famiies favorite meals. She was a member of the Memphis Christian Church and the Christian Womens Workers. She was also a member of the Scotland County Educational Club.

She is survived by a daughter Connie Briddle and her husband Garry of Kirksville, Missouri; two sons, Donovan Meinhardt and his wife Judi of Colo, Iowa and Kim Meinhardt and Karen Shanley of Memphis, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Patricia Ann Meinhardt, Jared Lee Meinhardt, Brandie Briddle, Brady Briddle, Brockell Briddle, George Logan Meinhardt, Adam Meinhardt, Jason Otto Meinhardt, Rachael Ranae Cantu, Damon Eric Meinhardt; six step-grandchildren: Eric Hendrickson, Cory Hendrickson, Alicia Westercamp, Michael Melton, Susan Young, Sara Melton; four great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include a sister Mary Jane Bergen of Cedartown, Georgia and a brother Jamie Riebel and his wife Doris of Arbela, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Danny George Meinhardt and two brothers: Darrell Riebel and Roger Riebel.

Funeral services will be held at the Memphis Christian Church on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Brother Jack Sumption officiating. Music will be provided by Elaine Forrester and Alicia Kigar, vocalists, Joe Fulk, pianist Brockell Briddle, violinist and Connie Courtney, organist.

Burial will follow the service in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Adam Meinhardt, George Logan Meinhardt, Jason Meinhardt, Damon Meinhardt, Brady Briddle and Jared Meinhardt.

Memorials may be made to the Memphis Christian Church and may be left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri, 63555.
