NOTE: Esther (Wilcox) Ranney may well be buried in this cemetery, but the photograph on this memorial is definitely not her headstone. Although the stone is very eroded, parts of the inscription are legible; it says "Miss Esther... daughter of [Deacon John?]." Esther (Wilcox) Ranney would not have been styled "Miss," as she was married to Thomas Ranney and bore him 10 children. Furthermore, Esther Ranney was not the daughter of a Deacon John–she was the daughter of Ephraim Wilcox and Silence (Hand) (Wilcox) Warner. I suggest that the photo be removed from this memorial page.
