Lester Alan Tweeton went home to be with the Lord after losing his battle with cancer at his home on Wednesday, September 8, 2005 surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Lester was born to Irvin and Zola (Posey) Tweeton on December 3,1939 in Perham. He grew up and lived in the Pelican Rapids area and in 1956 the family moved to Moorhead, where he later graduated from Moorhead High School in May of 1957. He joined the United States Army and the Army Reserve and served from June 1957 to May 1963.
Lester worked for many years at Dakota Refrigeration in Fargo, ND. In 1988 he moved to Detroit Lakes, where he later owned and operated Tweeton Refrigeration, Inc. with his son. He had also taught second year Commercial Refrigeration at Northwest Technical College in Moorhead for the past three years. He loved teaching and sharing his knowledge of the trade.
Lester had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and walking with his grandchildren. He also loved to share his knowledge of life, faith and family.
Lester touched many lives here and will continue to touch many lives iu the days and years to come. He was known for his honesty, generosity and integrity. He will be deeply missed.
Lester married Sandra Hovde, the love of his life, on August 4, 1961 in Fargo where they lived for many years. They shared 44 years of marriage. Lester dearly loved his wife, seven children and 17 grandchildren. His family was very important to him and he felt blessed for the time God had given him here on earth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Zola Tweeton; one nephew, Christopher Tweeton.
The Funeral Service was held Monday, September 12 at Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes with Pastor Paul Larson officiating.
Interment is in Pelican Valley Cemetery, Pelican Rapids,MN.
