Edward Buford Tolle was born Jan. 24, 1897, at Roxbury, McPherson Co., KS, the son of Bascome Turner and Mary Ann (Anderson) Tolle. He passed away on March 1, 1985 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson, KS, at the age of 88 years. He was a retired farmer and cattleman, and was a member of the Roxbury United Parish Church and the Roxbury Lions Club. He lived most of his life in the Roxbury community. The last 5 years he resided in McPherson.
Me married Mary Olive Burch on Oct. 22, 1919, at Roxbury. She preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1977.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy D. Jacobson, Roxbury; two sons, E. Thayne Tolle, Richardson, TX, and Willard R. Tolle, Irvine, CA; seven grandchildren, Sheryl Messenger, Derek Jacobson and Melanie Jacobson, Garry Tolle, Richard Tolle, Gina Tolle , Brett Tolle; three great-grandchildren, Mark Messenger, Shari Messenger, and Jessami Jacobson; a sister, Margaret I. Lilly of Mentor, KS. One brother, George B. Tolle preceded him in death.
Edward was interested and active through out his life in farming, cattle, sports and many church, local, state and national affairs. He had many business associations throughout central Kansas and neighboring states. He enjoyed the friendship of a large number of acquaintances.
Edward was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed He lived his life in a way his family has tried to follow.
