HAMILTON TOWNSHIP New Jersey 1933—Trenton Times, April 6, 1933—Mrs Mary Metzger, widow of Augustus Metzger, died Tuesday, April 4th, after a lengthy illness. She was 69 years old. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs J. Russell Gunning, five sons, Harry, Gus, Walter, Roy, and Russell Metzger; a sister, Mrs Robert Blackburn of Glouchester, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Gunning, 535 Centre Street, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. John Goorley of Wesley M.E. Church officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under direction of John A. Hartman.

—Trenton Times, April 7, 1933—The funeral of Mrs. Mary Metzger, widow of Augustus Metzger, and mother of two policemen who died on Tuesday was held Friday fro the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gunning, 535 Centre Street. The Rev. John Goorley, of Wesley M.E. Church, conducted services.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, under direction of John A. Hartmann. Bearers were: William Steiner, John Almond, Charles Smith, John Haas Cortland Averre, and William Braun.

Mrs Metzger was the mother of Patrolman Russell Metzger, of the the Trenton police department, and Patrolman Walter Metzger, of Hamilton Township police. Three other sons also survive. They are Harry and Augustus, both employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, and Leroy Metzger.

The family of the late Mary Metzger express thanks to their friends, neighbors, and relatives for the kind expressions of sympathy for the beautiful floral tributes and loan of the automobiles during the recent bereavement.
