He died Monday evening at Skiff Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

Survivors are two daughters, Mary Mattox of Macomb, Ill., and Jean (Mrs. Hubert) Price of Monroe; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esta, July 31, 1983, a brother, John Edward, and three sisters, Ruth Terpstra and in infancy, Julia and Grace Germann.

Mr. Germann was an automobile mechanic at the Grinnell Buick Garage for 20 years, had worked for 20 years for Dale Schlotfeldt Olds and Pontiac in Newton and for 10 years in the Newton Olds and Cadillac garage, had been recipient of several awards from Oldsmobile and Cadillac Divisions of General Motors for superior workmanship and knowledge of repair and servicing of automobiles.

After his retirement, Mr. Germann resided and worked as a handyman at Toland Funeral Home and Toland-Wallace Funeral Home for 40 years.

The son of John and Magalena Knebel Germann, he was born May 27, 1898 in Grinnell and attended schools in Grinnell and Plankinton, S.D.
