Verona Jones George, beloved mother, grandmother,great-grandmother and friend died peacefully April 11, 1997. Born December 23, 1910 to Ezra Benson and Sarah Jane Housekeeper Jones in Milburn, Utah. She was the youngest of twelve children, three brothers and eight sisters, all deceased. Loving wife to Allen Ray George whom she married December 17, 1932, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death, May 15, 1991. Faithful member of the LDS Church, she served as Relief Society President and teacher in her Ward and the Golden Years Branch. She served missions in Scotland, 1962 and Nauvoo, 1976 and served many years as a temple ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell and ZCMI, and later worked for the US Census Bureau. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, traveling, temple work and genealogy throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to three daughters, Marilyn (Leslie) Fussel; Sheila (Robert) Huntington; and Judy (Richard) Allison; grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 53. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15, 1997, 12 noon, North Canyon 7th Ward Chapel, 3350 S. 100 East, Bountiful. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Monday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy. Deseret News, April 13, 1997, Page B6
