HAINES CITY, FLORIDA - Vernon B. Bridges, Sr. of Haines City, passed away from renal failure Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Haines City Health Care. He was 93.
A native of Fulford, FL, born November 12, 1916 to Charlie and Dolly Thompson Bridges, Vernon has been a lifelong resident. He retired from the Haines City Citrus Growers after 44 years as a Production Supervisor, was a volunteer fireman for over 40 years for the Haines City Fire Department, was a former member of the Optimist Club, and he was a Baptist.
Vernon was predeceased by his wife: Marguerite Bridges, his parents, his brother: R.E. Bridges, and his sister: Cynthia Evans.
He is survived by his son: Vernon B. Bridges, Jr. and his wife Janice, his daughter: Marilyn Blackwelder, both of Haines City; his sisters: Nellie Mae Brown of Webster, FL and Hilda Sloan of Bay Lake, FL; 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 AM till 12 Noon at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
