Theodore "Ted" Bernard Orpen, 97, of Pelican Rapids, died on Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

He was born Feb. 26, 1903, and grew up in Pelican Township near Pelican Rapids the son of Ole and Antonette (Nersven) Orpen. On Oct. 14, 1922, he married Esther Engebretson. Mr. Orpen farmed his entire life. He also owned and operated a lumber business for many years. Mrs. Orpen died Jan. 12, 1985.

Mr. Orpen enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; a daughter, Pernell Peterson; four brothers, Oscar, Albert, Anton and Oliver; and two sisters, Alma Ruud and Gina Poss.

Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids
