From History of Maries Co, MO by Everett M. King: Samuel Simpson, the remaining child of William and Elizabeth Serena Simpson, married Lydia Angeline, daughter of Reverend J. T. (Thomps) Powers and moved to Texas with the rest of the family. But he did not like the country and returned to Missouri, spending the rest of his life in Maries and Pulaski counties. He died February 28 1905.

Samuel Simpson and his wife were the parents of ten children living to maturity, of whom four are yet living. The living are:

Matilda, wife of James H. Roberts at St. James; Tine, widow of Steve Copeland at Dixon;

Diora, wife of V. C. Henderson in Texas County; and

Thomas at Granite City. The last named married Zilphia Wilson, daughter of Thomas.

Of the six children who have passed on, Callie married Henry Scott, they lived most of their married life around Richland, where both died, leaving two children, Thomas and Savannah, both of whom now live in California.

Mahala Emeline Simpson, who died June 19, 1931, aged sixty-nine years, married George M. Keaton, and was the mother of three children, of whom Samuel died single in 1926, Nora married Wi1am Wilder at Granite City, where the family has lived many years; their three children are Mrs. W. E. Love, Mrs. J. W. Graham, and Small Bacon, all of Granite City.

Josephine, the fourth deceased child, married Stephen, son of Lafayette Briggs; the family lived near Springfield for many years, and no data as to their children have been obtained.

John Simpson, the fifth child, was first married August 25, 1900, to Basheba, daughter of Jehu Copeland, who died childless August 10, 1923; his second wife was Olive Thomas, a widow, by whom he was the father of two children, Angeline and another.

William Simpson, the remaining child, married Lucy, daughter of John Copeland; the family lived at Dixon a number of years, and afterwards moved to Springfield, where he died, survied by his widow and their nine children: Effie, Edna, Basheba, Victoria, Blanche, Bunyan, Leonard, William, and Bryan Simpson. All are married and live in and near Springfield except one daughter, Blanche, now Mrs. Thomas Golden, who lives in Detroit.

Lydia Angeline, the third deceased child, married James H. Bacon and died May 21, 1930, at Granite City, where the family has lived many years; their three children are Mrs. W. E. Love, Mrs. J. W. Graham, and Small Bacon, all of Granite City.
