A BIOGRAPHY OF BEATRICE HALLBERG TIFFT, by Laurence Overmire (great nephew), genealogist and family historian, June 2, 2010:

Beatrice was the daughter of Swedish immigrants Carl Hjalmar and Anna Elisabet (Jonsdotter) Hallberg. She received a B.A. in education from the University of Minnesota in 1932. On June 23, 1933, she married Dr. Cyril Tifft. They had two daughters: Elizabeth Ann and Beatrice Mary.

Beatrice taught German and orchestra for years in New Glaris, Wisconsin and later at University High School in Minneapolis. She was an active member of Holman United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Her daughter Mary notes that after Cyril enlisted for service in World War II "she valiantly, single-handedly, expertly and lovingly managed childrearing, their home and all local affairs while her husband served in Labrador for the Army/Air Force for 2 + years until her premature death."

Beatrice died suddenly of cardiac arrest on Feb. 9, 1946.
