From A Genealogical History of the Detweiler, Detwiler Family, compil ed by Elizabeth A. Zern Smith, 1993:
Johannes was a merchant in Perkiomen Twp; had 200-acre farm near Rhans. T he property is now a store on Rt. 113 in Montgomery Co. and is not far fr om his father Hans' farm. In 1748 John and Anna granted land in Upper Dub lin Twp., Montgomery Co., Pa. to his brother Joseph Detweiler. In the 17 56 census, John Detweiler, weaver, is listed as having eight children; how ever, no property was listed. In 1769 it indicated John had 207 acre s, 3 horses, and 6 cattle. By 1774 he had 200 acres, 4 horses and 6 cattl e. By 1783 John Dettweiler (sic) was listed as a farmer with 320 acre s, 4 horses, 13 cattle and 1 servant. Johnnes and Anna are buried at LS M, row 20. The will of John Detwylar (sic), Skippack Twp. Montgomery Co ., is dated 1801 and proved 18 December 1806.

Rem. of estate divided among childre n: Abraham, Jacob, John, Susanna, wife of Henry Kolp, Barbara, wife of Isa ac Cassel, Mary, wife of John Landes, Elizabeth, wife of Nicholas Holderma n, Hester, wife of Henry Hunsicker, Sarah, wife of John Moyer, Catharin e, wife of Jacob Longacre, Hannah, wife of Jacob Benner, Magdalena, wi fe of Abraham Gotwals, and Salomy, wife of John Corner, equally. Daught er Susanna, to receive interest. To son in law Henry Hunsicker, German bib le. Execs: Son in law Henry Hunsicker, son Jacob. Wit: Isaac Hunsicker, J ohn Tyson.
