Mr. Edwin Leo Bagwell age 82 of Arab died Wed. May 12, 2010, at Marshall Medical Center North. Mr. Bagwell was born on Jan. 27, 1928, in Union Grove, Alabama, to Leo and Simmie Parker Bagwell.

He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an accountant at Redstone Arsenal and was a member of Arab First Baptist Church. He was involved in several civic and other organizations including: Union Grove Masonic Lodge, Disabled American Veterans, Alabama Alumni Association, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a volunteer for the Police Department and Marshall Medical Center North.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Bagwell; Brothers James, Theron, Willard, Cecil and Roger Bagwell.

Survivors include daughter Carol J. Welch of Acworth, Georgia, Sherry E. Elliott of Decatur, Alabama; son Michael E. Bagwell of Beaumont, Texas; brothers Kenneth Bagwell of Boaz, Alabama, Sim Bagwell of Union Hill, and Wendell Bagwell of Arab; sisters Louise Wilson of Union Grove, Marion Jensen of Virginia, Juanee Metcalfe of Arab and Bernice Collins of Arab; grandchildren Lindsay Elliott of Decatur, Charles Elliott of Birmingham, Stephen Bagwell of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Cara Bagwell of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Funeral was Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 1:00pm at Arab First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial was in Arab Memorial Cemetery.
