Ed, born in Hubbard and raised in St. Paul, briefly worked with the Northern Pacific Railroad before enlisting with the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1944. After completing his tour of duty, Ed "Fast Eddie" continued with the Northern Pacific Railroad/BNSF until his retirement in 1989 after 44 years of service. His career as an engineer spanned operation of steam engines to modern diesel electric locomotives.
Fast Eddie loved to spend time with family, playing golf, and hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He is survived by his wife Emilie (Guardini), whom he married on November 19, 1947; and his six children, Linda (Jeff) Simpson; Jeanne(Dale) Radke; Russell (Candise) Harrison; Mary Ann Harrison; Teresa Yarclay;, and Heidi Therrien. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Betty (Don) Hult; brothers-in-law, Joseph Guardini & James Gruntner; and many nieces & nephews.
Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday, June 3rd at Mueller Lake Mortuary, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., WBL and 1 hr prior to Mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Friday, June 4th at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave., WBL. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to ALS of Minnesota or Helping Paws.
